Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Debuts as Harveys Undergoes $160 Million Makeover

Harveys Lake Tahoe will officially be reborn as Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, marking the launch of a comprehensive $160 million renovation expected to wrap up by mid‑2026.
A Bold Rebrand & Renovation Underway
Owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment, the sprawling 1.6‑million‑square‑foot resort has been undergoing a multi-phase renovation since October 2024, aiming to modernize every aspect—from the hotel lobby to the casino floor, guest rooms, dining, and entertainment venues. The rebrand inaugurates Caesars’ upscale “Republic” sub-brand, introduced last year in Scottsdale, Arizona, now premiering lakeside in Lake Tahoe.
Reinventing the Guest Experience
The centerpiece of the transformation is the 88,000‑square‑foot casino, which is receiving fresh carpeting, lighting, chair and table upgrades, digital displays, new slot machines, a high‑limit room, and a dedicated World Series of Poker room. The hotel’s two towers are getting Roman-themed makeovers: the Mountain Tower becomes the Remus Tower, fully refurbished with select suites featuring dedicated butler service, while the Tahoe Tower—now the Romulus Tower—gets a refresh following a prior remodel completed in 2020.
Upscale Dining & Lounge Upgrades
The resort will maintain its high-profile dining venues—Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and WOLF by Vanderpump—while introducing a sophisticated new lounge, Cleo’s Coffee and Cocktails, which will serve café fare by day and upscale libations by night. The redesign is crafted by Marnell Companies and draws on Roman motifs, sophisticated lighting, and chic communal spaces.
Phased Renovation to Minimize Disruption
Construction is being executed in phases to keep the resort fully operational. Notably, renovation pauses during peak summer visitation and resumes through fall and winter 2025, continuing into mid‑2026.
Leadership’s Vision & Commitment
Anthony Carano, President and COO of Caesars Entertainment, emphasized the regional significance of the renovation: “Lake Tahoe is a stunning destination, and we’re elated to bring a new world‑class resort worthy of its allure to the lakefront.” Karie Hall, SVP and General Manager, stressed that the project honors Harveys’ legacy while ushering in elevated luxury experiences tailored for modern guests.
Tahoe Market & Competitive Landscape
The investment represents Caesars’ strategic vote of confidence in Tahoe’s gaming and leisure potential. Lake Tahoe casinos generated approximately $22 million in January 2025 revenue—a 22.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. As regional gaming rebounds and outdoor tourism grows, Caesars aims to set itself apart with a luxury-infused destination unmatched on the South Shore.
What Lies Ahead
Guests are poised to experience a new brand and amenities as early as this summer, with the full transformation—including revamped accommodations, high-end gaming spaces, enhanced dining, and luxury services—completed by mid‑2026. Across the street, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe is also undergoing upgrades, including Summits Suites renovation and the launch of Brew Brothers, ensuring the entire South Shore corridor gets a refresh.
